O k now this is one of our most memorable days of our Asian food tour. We arrived in El Nido on the island of Palawan in the Philippines and came across a little street food stall on the side of the road. This place was an absolute gem as far as traditional Filipino food goes. The owners, Bert & Lucy and family are also the most kind and hospitable people we met on our trip. Their restaurant (if you can call it that) is called MDC, short for Mommy & Daddy’s Canteen.

pork adoboOver the week or so that we were in El Nido we ate there every single day… at least once! Needless to say, we just couldn’t get enough of their food and every day they would cook a whole new menu featuring the most popular authentic Filipino dishes in the country. We were lucky enough to have them show us their most popular dish, Pork Adobo. Not only did we learn this dish, but we helped Bert and Lucy cook all the dishes for the entire day!
